Green Bexley Boot Camp

The first of its kind in Bexley, our Environmental Sustainability Advisory Committee (ESAC) has put together Green Bexley Boot Camp!

Residents can participate in the "Boot Camp" in one of two ways: Either as a registrant who signs up to attend all six events (space is limited for registrants), or as a casual participant who attends any one or more of the events that are open to all. The six-week Green Bexley Boot Camp consists of a weekly event to educate participants on various topics relating to sustainability.

Green Bexley Boot Camp Events:

October 16, 5:30 - 7:00 pm at the North Community Garden: Sustainable Gardening
Learn simple ways to make your garden more eco-friendly!

October 23, 5:30 - 7:00 pm: Green Homes Tour*

November 6, 6:00 - 7:30 pm: Green Parents @ the Bexley Public Library
There are plenty of small changes parents can make around the house to eliminate waste & choose more sustainable options. Bexley resident Rebecca Ness and friends will be leading the discussion with the tips & tricks that work well for the modern family!

November 13, 6:00 - 7:30 pm: Food Waste 101 @ Bexley Public Library
Composting your food waste can spark a lot of "what if" or "this-or-that" questions, and this event will help answer those. Can you compost both paper towels and napkins? What does the "sell by" date really mean? What can I put in my compost receptacle? What are some pro tips for making composting super easy? Get all of these questions answered at Food Waste 101!

November 20, 6:00 - 7:30 pm: Green Drinks – Location TBA!
Wrap up the Green Bexley program & celebrate the graduates with a happy hour! Our social hour will feature a green topic and related libations.

While you don't need to be a six-week registrant to attend most events, those who do register and attend will have a generous green goodie bag upon graduation! Graduates will receive:

  • A free tree in the spring
  • A clothesline package
  • A $50 voucher towards a rain barrel
  • A stylish countertop compost bin
  • A COTA pass

And of course, graduation certificate will be given to all participants so they can showcase their hard work and dedication to sustainability!
