The Development Department is staffed by the Planning & Economic Development Director and is responsible for a variety of City improvement programs, enhancement projects, and planning efforts. 

Our primary responsibilities are in economic development, community development, city planning and in producing and maintaining community data for planning purposes.

In performing these responsibilites we work with:  

• the Planning Commission, making recommendations on new and expanded commercial buildings as well as signage and other planning elements of urban design
• the Board of Zoning Appeals
• the Tree & Public Gardens Commission
• building owners, to attract new business tenants
• businesses, to assist with expansion and relocation within Bexley
