The Bexley Community Foundation Board of Directors announced this morning the financial support for two small grant applications. The awards are presented to the Bexley Police Department for $5,000 and to the Bexley Recreation and Parks Department in collaboration with Bexley Celebrations Association for $4,450.

Judy Brachman, Chairman of the Program and Grants Committee says "The Bexley Community Foundation is pleased to provide for the third year some financial support for creative and innovative programs. These grants will benefit Bexley businesses and residents in so many ways. We are most appreciative of the donations we received throughout the community last year that affords us to award these fine applicants."

The success of the Bexley Block Watch groups involving 105 volunteers is immeasurable. However, the creation of a community education program created by the Bexley Police will instruct citizens on exactly what the police do 24 hours 365 days a year. Screened and approved citizens entering the Program will learn more than what they watch on NCIS. They will learn hands-on experiences in working with equipment utilized by officers and detectives plus the law governing arrests, the criminal justice system, property crimes, drug operations and more.

The community event banners will reach out through Bexley to promote numerous seasonal events for young and old alike. Brachman says, "Bexley has a great number of events, and these event banners will most certainly expand awareness of many community activities."

Small grants are awarded each year by the Bexley Community Foundation. Funds are generated from the annual Building Our Foundation campaign that is launched each fall. For additional information regarding the Foundation's grant program, click onto www.bexleycommunityfoundation.org.
