Broad Street Construction Update

The City of Bexley will begin a water line replacement project on Broad Street from Alum Creek to Gould Road starting July 27th (expected completion by end of November weather permitting). Construction will occur in two block increments and east bound traffic will be reduced to one lane while both north and south bound turning movements within the work zone will be prohibited during working hours. The city will provide updates via onsite message boards, as well as the city's website and the Bexley Blast regarding work zones and recommended detours.

  • Merkle Road south and north of Broad Street will be closed next week (Monday thru Friday) from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM (schedule and weather permitting).

  • Construction crews will continue working on the remaining service tie-ins, backfilling open trenches and place seed. Once complete this section of Broad Street including the gutter area will be thoroughly cleaned and swept.

  • Beginning November 23rd construction crews will remobilize at the intersection of Gould Road and Broad Street.

This water line project is Phase 1 of a 2-phase project, with steet resurfacing and aesthetic improvements scheduled to start in the Spring of 2016.  Both phases are funded by a 75% grant / 25% no-interest loan package from the State of Ohio Public Works Commission.

Please contact the City’s Department of Public Service at 614-559-4220 if you have any questions regarding this project.
