Schneider Park

Park 'n Play at Schneider Park

Park 'n Play staff will be providing free community programming at the new Schneider Park Athletic Field and Playground this summer on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6p-8p.  Park 'n Play program, at it’s core, is a “Fun Team” that consists of staff and equipment to provide free activities with general supervision.  In addition to the Tuesday and Thursday programming, on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month (June-August), we will be providing free instructor based programming at Schneider Park from 10a-12noon.  Programs will include games and art by Coach Chris and Shonda, flag football with OSU great Roger Harper, and more.  For more information, including schedules, about the Park 'n Play Program and Saturday morning instructor based programming, visit www.bexley.org/parknplay.

Schneider Park Athletic Field - Grand Opening Has Been POSTPONED

Due to a very soggy spring, we have fallen behind a bit on the completion of the Schneider Park Athletic Field Project.  There are still a handful of projects we need to button up before completion.  As a result, we are going to postpone the Schneider Park Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and Event that was scheduled for Saturday, May 18th.  In the meantime, we will continue to work to finish up the project with the goal of presenting the New Schneider Park Athletic Field in the coming months.  Once the project is finalized, we will schedule a new date for the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony.  We are sorry for any inconvenience this has caused in your schedule and appreciate your patience with the Schneider Park opening.  We are so very excited to add the Schneider Park Athletic Field to our community.

Schneider Park Playground Finishing Touches – VOLUNTEERS NEEDED TUESDAY, APRIL 23RD

As the Bexley Recreation and Parks Dept. puts the finishing touches on the Schneider Park Playground build, we are looking for a handful of volunteers to help install and spread the playground safety mulch.  We will do the mulch install on Tuesday, April 23rd.  Please sign up for one of the two shifts (8:30a-11:30a or 12:30p-4:00p).

We have created another sign-up genius for volunteers to register.  To register to volunteer for the new playground build dates please click here.

Schneider Park Community Playground Build – POSTPONED TO NEXT FRIDAY, APRIL 5TH AND SATURDAY, APRIL 6TH

Due to the impending rain in the forcast this Friday (3/29) and Saturday (3/30) and the conditions the rain will cause at the site, we have decided to postpone the Schneider Park Playground Community Build until next week (Friday, April 5th & Saturday, April 6th).  All other details will be the same.  We are still in the need of volunteers for two shifts (8:30a-12:30p & 12:30p-4:30p) on each day.

We have created another sign-up genius for volunteers to register.  To register to volunteer for the new playground build dates please click here.

Schneider Park Community Playground Build – Volunteers Needed

The development of the south end of Schneider Park along Alum Creek is nearly complete. The nearly 3.5 acre site includes a 330’x210’ athletic field, trail system that runs along Alum Creek and will connect with the Main Street sidewalk system, community shelter house and playground, parking and other support infrastructure. Supported through grant dollars from the Bexley Community Foundation (BCF), Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR), the Columbus Blue Jackets Foundation and the City of Bexley, this park represents the first addition of park space in our community since the Jeffrey Mansion and Parks was deeded to the city in 1942.

Thanks to a $65,000 grant from the Columbus Blue Jackets Foundation, the park project will include a CBJ themed community playground. In an effort to bring community together for a common project, and to save a few dollars, we have scheduled a Schneider Park Community Playground Build on Friday, March 29th and Saturday, March 30th. We are asking for 4 shifts of 4 hours over the two day project. Our goal is to have 15 volunteers registered for each shift (individuals are more than welcome to register for multiple shifts).

We are very excited about the development of a community playground at Schneider Park. We want for this community build project to be a fun and fulfilling experience for all of our volunteers. Music, food, and drinks will be provided throughout the work days. To register to volunteer for the playground build please click here. For any questions, please contact Michael Price at the Bexley Recreation and Parks Department at 614.559.4300 or mprice@bexley.org. Once again, thank you to the Columbus Blue Jackets Foundation for their generous gift. Without their support the Schneider Park Playground wouldn’t be possible!

This space will enhance our community in many ways. The park will provide a 1.5 acre multipurpose athletic fields, a shelter house, a playground, walkable trails, and so much more.

Current Design Plan:

The project is supported by the generosity of the Bexley Community FoundationOhio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR), and the City of Bexley. Each month, we will upload photos to the gallery below to share the progress of the propety.
