South Roosevelt Avenue Improvements

Recently the work was bid and Danbert, Inc. has been selected to perform the work described below:

  • Installation of a new 8” water main and fire hydrants from Livingston Avenue to Main Street.
  • Reconnection of all active water services from the shut off, to the new water main.
  • Replacement of the existing Storm Sewer Mains at the intersections of Charles, Astor and Mound Streets.
  • Spot Removal and replacement of the existing concrete curb and gutter as needed.
  • Installation of new concrete curb and gutter along Charles Street, both East and West of Roosevelt Avenue.
  • Removal and replacement of concrete sidewalk panels resulting from construction activities, specifically the installation of water services.
  • Asphalt resurfacing of the street.
  • Other related work such as seeding, curb ramps, signs, street lighting, etc.

The project is scheduled to begin the week of July 8th and will last approximately five (5) months.  Parking restrictions will be posted on the block where the work is occurring, as well as one block immediately north and south during working hours (7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.) weekdays.  Access to residences will be maintained to the extent feasible, but there will be occasions when travel along certain sections of S. Roosevelt Avenue will not be permitted, particularly during water main installation and paving.  This will typically be limited to the area where construction crews are working, and access may still be available by going around the block and approaching from the opposite direction.

UPDATE AS OF 10/15: Water main work on the second block, between Astor and Mound, has begun. The project is anticipated to be complete by the end of November.
